Comprehensive Behavioral Health Services in Tempe, AZ Safe House Wellness & Health

Our Full Continuum of Behavioral Health Care

At Safe House Wellness & Health, we offer a complete range of outpatient behavioral health services designed to meet you exactly where you are in your recovery journey. Located in Tempe, we serve adults throughout the Valley (Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Gilbert, and all of Maricopa County) who are ready to create real, lasting change.

Our programs treat a wide range of mental health and co-occurring conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and substance use challenges. Every level of care is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and centered on accountability, skill-building, and rebuilding a meaningful life.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

PHP is our most intensive outpatient level of care — a structured, full-day program that provides hospital-level support while allowing you to return home each evening.

Ideal for individuals who:

  • Experience high symptom intensity, emotional instability, or recent crises

  • Are stepping down from inpatient or residential treatment

  • Need daily structure to stabilize symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, or co-occurring substance use

  • Want intensive support without 24-hour hospitalization

What to Expect in PHP:

  • 5–7 days per week, approximately 6 hours per day (typically 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM or similar)

  • Multiple group therapy sessions daily focused on coping skills, emotional regulation, and peer support

  • Weekly individual therapy and family sessions when appropriate

  • Psychiatric evaluation and ongoing medication management

  • Evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed skills, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care

  • Daily check-ins, case management, and care coordination with outside providers, courts, or probation

PHP helps you stabilize quickly, reduce symptoms, and build the tools needed to transition successfully to a lower level of care.

IOP offers consistent, structured treatment several days per week while you continue living at home, working, attending school, or caring for family.

Ideal for individuals who:

  • Need more support than traditional weekly therapy

  • Are transitioning from PHP or higher levels of care

  • Want to maintain daily responsibilities while strengthening recovery skills

  • Are managing moderate symptoms of mental health conditions or co-occurring substance use

What to Expect in IOP:

  • 3–5 days per week, 3–4 hours per day (morning, afternoon, or evening options available)

  • Group therapy, individual counseling, and peer support sessions

  • Focused skill-building in relapse prevention, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and life skills

  • Case management to help coordinate with employers, probation, courts, or other providers

  • Flexible scheduling to fit real-life demands

IOP bridges the gap between intensive treatment and independent living, helping you practice new skills in your everyday environment.

Outpatient Program (OP)

IOP with Supportive Housing

Our Outpatient Program provides flexible, lower-intensity care for clients who have made meaningful progress and are ready to maintain gains with less structure.

Ideal for individuals who:

  • Have completed PHP or IOP and want continued support

  • Need ongoing therapy while fully reintegrating into work, school, and family life

  • Want long-term reinforcement of skills to prevent relapse and support overall wellness

What to Expect in OP:

  • 1–2 sessions per week (individual therapy, group therapy, or a combination)

  • Flexible scheduling, including evenings and Saturdays

  • Continued focus on skill reinforcement, emotional regulation, relationship health, and relapse prevention

  • Ongoing case management and coordination with psychiatrists or other providers as needed

OP helps you stay on track and continue growing while living fully in your community

For clients who need both clinical intensity and a stable living environment, we combine IOP with supervised supportive housing.

This integrated program includes:

  • Full participation in our IOP clinical services (as described above)

  • Safe, structured, recovery-focused housing with daily accountability and 24/7 on-site support

  • A trigger-reduced environment that promotes healthy routines, peer community, and sober living

  • Additional case management focused on housing stability, life skills, and long-term independence

IOP with Supportive Housing is especially effective for individuals whose current home environment is unstable or who benefit from extra structure during early recovery.

How Our Levels of Care Work Together

Many clients start at PHP or IOP for stabilization, then step down to IOP with Supportive Housing or traditional OP as they gain confidence and stability. Our team completes a thorough clinical assessment to recommend the best starting point and adjusts the plan as you progress.
